The fire marshall came on friday and passed our school to move on to the next level. We have an appointment with the Department of Early Learning on Tuesday. I know this isn’t ideal and I’m so sorry for any inconvenience this causes you or your family. We are working incredibly hard to make this move happen. We have created a plan until we are fully licensed and able to all be at the new building. Until further notice… -Please drop off and pick up at 4800 40th Ave SW (our original building). -Remember we have sent all personal belongings home. Please bring a bag with your children’s necessities with you (diapers, spare clothes, nap sheet and blanket, lunch, etc). There will be a labeled space which we would like you to place your bag. -Please make sure to sign your child in and out. -We have set up each empty classroom as a curriculum room. The classes will take turns in 30 minute increments experiencing and exploring in each curriculum room including art, science and literacy, building and architecture, and large motor. -The newcomer (infants) will be in their own classroom all day. -Please pack any utensils your child might need in their lunch box -We have moved EVERYTHING over to the new building so we don’t have any extras of clothing or blankets so please be prepared so that your child is taken care of during this transition.

Lice

The maven class has had 2 children that have had lice. We have scheduled “Lice knowing you” to come do dry checks on our entire school at their earliest time slot of tomorrow at 11:30. If you would like your child checked but they do not come to school on Tuesdays, please contact me ASAP and  we can find a mutually beneficial time to have your child checked. Please contact me directly with any questions regarding this situation. Thank you!

Garage sale this saturday!!

As you may know, we are hosting a garage sale to benefit Bella Mente as part of the West Seattle Garage Sale Day on May 10 at the future school building at 6007 California ave SW.

Huge thanks to those of you who have already contributed items for sale!

There are still many ways for you to get involved to helping support our school:
  1. Bring donated items to the school any time before May 9 (or, for larger items, let us know and we will arrange for pick-up)
  2. We will be hosting a bake sale as part of the day’s activities – if you would like to bake items for sale, please bring them to the current building on May 9 OR to the garage sale on May 10 at 6007 California SW (note: all items will be sold for $2)
  3. Volunteer for a “pricing and prettying party” on May 7th or 8th  from 6-8 PM. We will be organizing the garage sale goods and getting everything marked in advance of the big day. Note: these will take place at 6007 California SW as well. Please let me know if you are able to help out on these nights.
  4. Bring your family shopping on May 10 to 6007 California SW any time between 9 AM and 3 PM

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

FAMILY SOCIAL 4/27 !!!

Were taking advantage of having a large empty space available to us on sunday APRIL 27th at our VITA building to have our next family social! 3pm-7pm at 4514 Fauntleroy way SW. 98126. Parking is limited at this building so I’m going to check in with the YMCA about the parking lot behind the cleaners to give us more space. Also, consider ideas for carpooling and or take the family on a walk there instead!

SAVE THE DATE and start brainstorming what potluck dish you’d to share…more details to come as we set them in stone. Hope to see you there!!

Building update

As the move in date and the final construction on the new building continues to be pushed back we are figuring out ways to fundraise and make the necessary changes that we will need to in order to make this all possible. It’s looking like this year’s summer closure will be used to move into the new building and we will start the new school year at 6007 California Ave SW with a fresh start. As exciting as this is, it’s a lot of time for us to be financially paying all of the debt associated with 3 buildings as well as construction costs and we don’t want to wait that long to all be back at the same building together. So, we have been brainstorming ways to get us all into one building ASAP to be able to drop the rent and other expenses associated with the extra building and to ease the struggles of being at separate spaces. So, as of April 28th 2014, our Bella Mente and Bella Vita will be reunited at our 4800 40th Ave SW location for the remainder of the summer! All of our classrooms will be in use and we will be taking full advantage of the excitement by moving and refreshing each classroom! We will post updates as we go but for now vita families as of April 28th Drop off and pick up will be at our 4800 building from then on! A Classroom layout will be available shortly at the front desk to view how everything will work out and as always if you have any questions please feel free to ask!
